The Bell

Accessibility

The Bell is located on the first floor of List Art Center. The entrance to the List Art Building is 120 feet (approximately 70 steps) from College Street and 160 ft (approximately 95 steps) from Waterman Street. There are currently no curb ramps in proximity to the List Art Building, and both College and Watermen Streets are not wheelchair accessible due to the gradient. There are no raised stairs to enter the building or The Bell, but there is a 1 foot slope ADA ramp alongside the List when entering from Waterman Street.

There is an accessible, gender inclusive bathroom available on the second floor (via elevators) that includes a baby changing table, as well as gender segregated bathroom facilities on the third, fourth, and fifth floors and basement, and a wellness room on the 4th floor. You are welcome to use the bathroom that best aligns with your gender identity.

The List auditorium has an accessibility ramp that is best accessed from Waterman Street. For events hosted by The Bell in the auditorium, please be in touch at bell_gallery@brown.edu to notify staff in advance of any accessibility needs. On request, Brown offers Assistive Listening Devices, American Sign Language (ASL) Interpretation; Audio Description; Communication Access Real-Time Translation (CART); Closed Captioning; and Image Captions for Web Accessibility on websites.
